Winchester Model 1886 Special Order 45-70 Govt Lever Rifle.

This is a highly collectible Winchester backed up with a Letter from the Buffalo Bill
Center of the West - Cody Museum Wyoming USA which states.

Model 1886 Serial Number 145320 was originally made in a 40-82 Caliber on Feb
23 1909 with a round barrel.
It was Special Ordered and arrived in Heere Germany on July 29 1912 to be rebarreled into
45-70 Govt caliber with an Octagonal Barrel . Also to come with Plain Trigger and 1/2
length Magazine.
This order was shipped out from Winchester warehouse on July 30 1912 Order #
370918..

The Letter from Cody Museum will be provided. (see picture)

This collector Rifle also has the special Sporting Leaf rear sight which was only
installed on Special Order rifles after serial number 130000.

Condition of this gun is very good. Wood finish appears original and there are no
cracks on rear stock.
The forearm is solid with 2 splits at barrel cap end, it retains most of the original varnish
and color. Does have dents and marks one would expect from a 113 year old Rifle.

Has cresent steel butt plate. Barrel retains 45% original blue turned patina with
an even color throughout. The receiver shows very little blue, having totally worn out
and has grayed out all over. The bore has rifling showing with just a hint of roughness
throughout, rated at a 7 of 10. Action is crisp and tight with a properly working half
cock safety
Gun does appear to be working as intended but no test fire was carried out.

There is some indented marks at one end of loading port on right hand side of
receiver from some unknown source..

There is no Reserve set on this highly collectible Rifle..
